The soon-to-be-opening Port City Music Hall on Congress St. will be host to national pop-rock sensation OK Go on Friday, March 13th with supporting acts Oppenheimer and Longwave. It’s been a while since a major band I like has come all the way up to Portland (last time it was Tool and The White Stripes). If I remember correctly, OK Go played at the Cumberland Civic Center in ‘02 or ‘03. This show also has significance to me because both OK Go and Oppenheimer have opened up for my favorite band of all time, They Might Be Giants (note to Music Hall-please book them sometime!).

Unfortunately for the kids, this show is 18+ (as for all shows at Port City Music Hall). Advanced tickets: $16. At the door: $18.
I’m very excited to see how the show goes down at this new venue. Hopefully it will bring in more national acts for the future (my immediate wish list: TMBG, Grizzly Bear, Of Montreal…and anything else really cool).
Credit goes to Hillytown.com for informing me about this awesome news.

YES PLEASE! TMBG!
See, it even rhymes. You guys have GOT to bring them to your venue!
that would be cool. will have to see if we can lure them to Maine. Would be cool if they’d do a kids show in the afternoon and regular show at night…. hit mainers of all ages…
I saw OK GO at the CYY Holiday Bizarre at the State Theater in 2003 I think it was. This was after their first album which I thoroughly enjoyed. And I like this better than the mainetoday.com blog, good choice to leave that sinking ship.

Will work on that wish list….. we (PCMH) are working through the kitchen/food requirements for an 18+ license….it’s what we want – but hasn’t been approved. Hopefully will straighten it out this week. We’ll keep you posted.
